Painting this work was a long and beautiful process of layering paint and building of intent until the cocoon appeared (quite literally) as the apotheosis of the process.

From the crumbling grandeur and hubris of ancient citadels and towers my work at this time has curiously become fixated on microcosms of biological and vegetal life with seeds and cocoons predominating. 

Drifting now quite strongly towards abstraction these vestigial figurative conceptions are very important markers to me on the path to a kind of transcendence of form and subject.
